Eastside Village Project
"Preserving our beautiful mid-century modern homes in District 2 is a priority for me. I believe there are opportunities to leverage redevelopment funds to support small business development, encourage affordable housing where it makes sense, and attract larger employers to this rapidly evolving area. We should also preserve our urban forests and support the City's plan for a multi-modal path through Bremerton and into greater Kitsap!" - Denise Frey
Redevelopment of the Harrison Hospital area
In October of 2021 the City adopted the Eastside Village Subarea as a visionary 20 year plan for growth and transition from the Harrison Medical Center to a vibrant area of Housing and Mixed use development. Less than 6 months later, Denise Frey was Councilmember of the District and has been listening to residents and business owners as plans are being made to redevelop this area.
Central to the plan will be the demolition of the old Harrison Hospital. We'll be sad to see it go but excited to see a new community being developed!
Redeveloping a Community to be Even Stronger
Denise believes that small businesses will be the heart of Bremerton's Eastside Village Project. That's certainly true of Sheridan Village, the small strip mall that is the anchor of this part of District 2. Seth Campana has recently opened the next generation of Campana's in Sheridan Village with Campana's Pizzeria, which is why Denise is hosting her Campaign Kickoff at Campana's.
"As a third generation Campana, Seth, the grandson to Hugo Campana and son to Chris Campana, along with his wife Destiny and daughter Maiha in toe, set out on a journey to bring the beloved Italian dishes back to Kitsap County."
"Having the first location open in Bremerton decades ago in 1970 they thought bringing the food back to the area holds so much nostalgia and memories for so many. These days it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t have some sort of connection to the previous restaurants."

These types of businesses, connecting us to our community, are the businesses we want to move in. Let's make sure we share the vision so that others can feel it too!
